Even With A Difficult Childhood R&B Singer Taiya’s Light Always Shined Bright Like A Diamond. Now She'll Perform At The JOCUNDA MUSIC, FILM & THEATRE FESTIVAL, April 25th at the 8:30pm Show at ARTEL in Bushwick in Brooklyn

Taiya was born in Chandler, Arizona, as Tia Lewis, and things were difficult from the start. With two older siblings being raised by a single mother in an abusive household, just staying together was hard enough. Her father went to prison when she turned 5, and her family bounced around from house to house, occasionally ending up on the streets homeless.

Very early on, Taiya discovered she had a gift for music and tried to stay positive by singing all of her favorite songs. When she reached the sixth grade, she discovered that in addition to her vocal skills, she was also adept at writing music. It was then Taiya realized she was gifted in a way beyond her years and her passion for music grew along with her abilities.

“Music has always been my escape through all of the tough circumstances I faced at a young age,” says Taiya.

She performed the National Anthem at the Arizona Events Center for multiple wrestling events and won numerous high school competitions with my her vocal ability. Signed to her first independent record company at the age of 16 and her second at the 17, Taiya knew that things were going to change and her dreams were in reach.

Taiya’s talent has also opened the door for her to work with some industry heavyweights, such as SOULJA boy, JBAR and Ant Beale. Now, at 20 she is ready to release her debut EP, Black, White and Love.

Next up, a hot new video being filmed with Dale "RAGE” Resteghini. Taiya may be “Instagram Famous” now, but the cards say there’s much more coming for this bright new star.
