The JOCUNDA FESTIVAL is now casting for GLOBAL INFERNO – The Untold Story by Cliff Bergmann, which will be in our Virtual Play Reading Series on Zoom on Saturday, August 15th at 8PM EST.  To audition please email your picture and resume to Rhonda Goldstein, director, at rhondabgoldstein@gmail.com and let her know which character you would like to audition for and she will send you the audition sides.  You will have until August 5th to get her your Self-Tape Audition Video to her.  We use Virtual Backgrounds for the Play Readings on Zoom so you must have access to a laptop, computer, iPad or iPhone to participate.  There is NO PAY for this project.  To learn more about the JOCUNDA MUSIC, FILM & THEATRE FESTIVAL click here.

GLOBAL INFERNO – The Untold Story by Cliff Bergmann
Synopsis:
Global Inferno takes us from the present day world back to the London of 1613 in the recent aftermath of the destruction of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre by tremendous fire.  At first thought to be a terrible accident or “act of God”, an impromptu investigation uncovers a surprising explanation which will eventually set in motion a course of history for the future of the British theatre.

Character Breakdown:
PROFESSOR: male, 30s-60s, any ethnicity -brilliant and lovable, absent minded, nerdy (a bit Bill Nye the science guy). This character exists in the present day.
MAGISTRATE: male, 40s-60s, upper class British accent a must- stern, bristly, demanding but has a bit of a twinkle of a rebel underneath it all.
STAGE MANAGER: male, 30s-60s, cockney (or other British working class accent) a must - humble and deferential but extremely smart and very capable.
BOY: male, teens- 20s, this character (who is historically significant) is14 years old at the time of the play ...so the actor can be older but must be able to play younger  British accent a must- upper class but tries to downplay his social class, clever and ambitious.

Set in the South in 1945 after WWII, Wray Edmond, a Black soldier returns home in pursuit of a better life for his family and purchases a Casino after being denied the benefits of the G.I. Bill.

The cast includes:  RUDOLPH SHAW as Wray Edmond, RASHIDA COSTA as Juanita Edmond, AMIR ROYALE as Sunny Edmond, HENRY DAVIS as Edison Brown, HELEN SANDERS as Grandma May, ARTHUR BROWN as Mr. Hughes and SHARON HOPE as IDA.
