Now casting for GREENWOOD by Coolidge Harris, Jr. and directed by Van Dirk Fisher. The play will be in the JOCUNDA FESTIVAL’S Virtual Play Reading Series on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 8PM EST on Zoom.  To audition please email your picture and resume to RiantTheatre@gmail.com and let us know which role you would like to audition for.  We will send you the Audition Sides so you can submit a self-taped video of a scene.  We need to receive your videotaped auditions by Thursday, August 13th at 7pm.  If you can submit a tape you can try to get a Zoom audition by requesting one.  There is NO PAY.  Rehearsals will be between Monday, August 17 and Thursday, August 20th.  Union and Non-Union.

SYNOPSIS:
Greenwood is set in Tulsa, OK. The play starts on the day of May 30th, 1921, the day leading up to the Black Wall Street massacre. Lucile and Red-Manning, owners of a boarding house located in the heart of the Greenwood district, come to realize they are two degrees separated from a guest who have come to establish roots there, or has he? The boarding home occupants, like most citizens of Greenwood live a normal life, proud of the community they have built, but navigating the undercurrent of racial inequities is a constant in their lives. Lucile and Red-Manning have a special union which is threatened by this mysterious traveler. The play is a love story that orbits the most violent days of Black American history.

Character Breakdown:

LUCILE:  Wife of Red-Manning.  Beautiful, mid-40's, suffers from Agoraphobia, with extreme anxiety of the outdoors.

SHAWNESE:  Attractive, Over-weight, rough around the edges, Lucile's best friend.

SHRINER:  Mid to late 70's, Long time family friend. 

TUCKER:  Mid 40's, Loyal, Direct, Funny, Red-Manning's Right-hand.

SIR:  Late 40's early 50's, Stately, Red-Manning's adversary.

YOUNG BOY:   Late teens, tenant/(unofficial) adopted son of Lucile and Red-Manning

RED-MANNING:  Husband of Lucile, Mid 40's, Strong, Confident yet vulnerable.

VOICE #1 and Narrator:  Mob member.

VIOCE #2 and Narrator:  Mob member.

SOUL TO SQUEEZE takes place during the coronavirus pandemic, an ANGEL and a DEVIL vie for the soul of a quarantined human living under the COVID-19 lock down.  The cast includes:  CHRISTINE SLOAN STODDARD as the Angel and DONNA MORALES as the Devil.

NOTHING IN COMMON People always talk about how much women want to have children. But men have a biological clock too. Some men will stop at nothing to get what they want.  The cast includes: KYMBERLY BURNS as Kelli, CHAUNICE CHAPMAN as Shaunda and SPENCER COLLINS as Jean.

GLOBAL INFERNO takes place in London in 1613 in the recent aftermath of the destruction of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre by tremendous fire.  At first thought to be a terrible accident or “act of God”, an impromptu investigation uncovers a surprising explanation which will eventually set in motion a course of history for the future of the British theatre.  The cast includes:  CHRISTOPHER DIEM as the Boy, MATT KOUTROULIS as the Magistrate, CHRIS SCARBOROUGH as the Stage Manager and MICHAEL WESTMORELAND as the Professor.

Holy Intervention is a story about love, loss, lies, faith, hope, and redemption. What starts out as a routine night of just sex quickly turns into an evening that neither Bobby nor CC is prepared for. But who will be left standing: The Pastor or his Prostitute?

The Cast includes:  ANDRES SANTIAGO PINA as Bobby (Theatre credits include:  Lord Capulet in Romeo and Juliet (Classical Theatre of Harlem), Shamrayev in The Seagull (Circle in the Square) and Lucius in Jesus Hopped the A Train (Columbia University) and TANYA FREEMAN as Cece (Theatre credits include:  Pipeline and The Mountaintop (Marietta’s New Theatre in the Square), King Hedley II (New African Grove Theatre Co) and Things That Hurt (Resurgence Theatre).

Director REISHON “STAXX” CORDERO has been featured on Comedy Central, Starz, and most recently in The Needs, available on Amazon Prime. She’s had both lead and supportive roles in Cassidy, Mr. JayV’s Comedy Series and the hit series Bumrush. The off-Broadway theater community embraced her with lead/supportive roles in 20 plus productions including The Diva and The Rapper and AUDELCO nominated Circumstances.
